The Time Has Come...

...for our good friends Damien and Wendy to move back to Utah. We were so excited when they decided to move home to Las Vegas and back into our ward. But Damien is having a lot of success in Utah, so back they go. We know this has been coming for a while, but we are still going to miss them.

And Rebecca is really going to miss her good friend Julianne.

Vacation at Work

This is Kevin. I am due for my annual contribution to the blog. So here it is:

A few weeks ago, Emily wasn't feeling good at all, (we just recently found out the source of the sickness: See previous post). So anyway, she asked me to stay home from work. A day off work? NO PROBLEM. I took the kids over to my folks house to swim and let Emily rest for the day. Good break for her and me.

When I got back to work on Friday. This is how I found my office.

Complete with Pool full of Fish.

One of our Foreman got temporarily kicked of the job site for telling the GC Superintendent what an idiot he was, so he was stuck in the office and they put him to task buying my Vacation Kit. Grand total of 33 dollars.



Later that day I decided to play along.

Lucky for me, I had played tennis that morning before work, so I had my shorts ready to go. (Or unlucky for me after seeing myself in a photo with my shirt off. I should probably be embarrassed.)

I didn't have a towel so luckily it was a small pool.




Had to get a better look at the fish. At 10 cents a piece there were quite a few in there. Sticking my face in that water with all those fish grossed out both of our secretaries. I don't see what the big deal is, unless the weren't really grossed out by my face in the water so much as my butt in the air.

Happy Anniversary, Two Days Late

Before I begin this post, I just want to say thank you for all of your comments about our little surprise. I appreciate all of the support and well-wishes from you guys. I am starting to get a little more excited about it.

Kevin and I were married on August 31, 2002. Our 6th anniversary was on Sunday, but we were in Utah, so I'm just getting to this today.

Our anniversary wasn't a huge deal this year. We spent Labor Day weekend with my family in New Harmony, Utah. Everyone at the house agreed to watch our kids while Kevin and I went to dinner in Cedar City. They have a new sushi place there, and it was actually really good. We came back to the house after we ate, and that was the extent of our anniversary celebration.

It's been a great six years. Kevin is my perfect match, and I want to list some reasons why that is.

He complements me:

• Kevin is a morning person, and I'm not. I love that he gets up with the kids for me on the weekends.
• Patience is not a quality that I was blessed with, and Kevin is the most patient person I have ever met. The nicest thing about this is that I think he has rubbed off on me a tiny bit in the past six years. I used to go nuts when I found out he had bought me a gift for an occasion or had a surprise planned for me. I had to know what I was getting or what the surprise would be. I've gotten a little better about being able to wait for those things.
• I over-worry, and Kevin doesn't worry about ANYTHING. This quality of his can actually make me a little crazy. Some things are really worth worrying about, like when a person needs to show up to court about a traffic ticket, and Kevin seems to not let this or anything else bother him. I think together we find a happy worrying medium.
• Cooking is stressful to me. Kevin loves cooking, or at least that's what he tells me. He says that it is relaxing to him. He ends up cooking for us most nights.
• I'm a total perfectionist (in a bad way) when it comes to certain things, like the way my clothes look or the way my house is put together. Kevin will wear the rattiest-looking pair of jeans and tell me they still look brand new when I tell him he needs a new pair. This has been so good for me. He has helped me realize that getting a tiny, unnoticeable stain on a shirt isn't enough of a reason to get rid of that shirt, or that a small nick in the paint on my wall or a little scratch on the furniture is not something that people are going to come into my house and judge me for or even notice most of the time.

We are the same in the best ways:

• We both grew up in Las Vegas and graduated from high school the same year. Although we didn't go to any of the same schools, we had a lot of similar experiences being part of the CCSD, and we also remember a lot of the same things that happened while we were in school because we're the same age. For example, I will say to him, "When you rode the bus in sixth grade, did you guys hear that song Informer like every morning on the way to school?" And he will say, "Yes. And we all made fun of it." And I say, "Yeah. We did too." Kevin and I always have conversations like this. I love this about him. It's fun to reminisce about the past with him because he always knows what I'm talking about, and he always contributes his own experiences about movies that came out, or events that took place, etc.
• We both love to watch good movies.
• We don't do a lot of outdoor things together, but we both really love to snowboard. This is actually something he taught me to do. I'm so excited to do more of this with him now that my parents have a place in Utah.
• He likes the Twilight books. I convinced him to let me read the books to him. He just finished the last book this weekend, and he thinks it's a great story just like I do.
• We both love to eat, and the restaurants we both love to go to are all the same.

There's so much more, but this is the gist of why we were made for each other. I love you, babe. Happy Anniversary.

This is a picture of the inside of my belly that I got from my doctor yesterday. I know you cannot tell what anything is in this picture, so I'll help you figure it out. The black blob toward the bottom of the picture is a baby. Yes, we are pregnant with #3, and I'm due on March 9th.

Many of you may recall me telling you, "I'm not having any more kids until Rebecca starts school." You are not mistaken - I did say this many times to many different people. This definitely was the plan - MY plan, since I had such a hard time adjusting to two kids. But obviously this plan didn't work for the Higher Power because here we are having #3 in less than seven months, and Rebecca doesn't start school for two more years.

I don't mean to be insensitive. I know a few of you who read my blog would give your right arm to have a baby right now. I really am grateful for this upcoming little blessing. I'm just sorry that we're having accidents while you guys are trying so hard to have another baby (or your first baby) because you're ready for one, and it's not happening for you. (I still pray for you guys all of the time, and I hope you get what you want.)

So that's our news. I'll post any updates I get as soon as I get them.

Today is Kevin's 28th birthday. To celebrate we invited his parents and brothers and sisters over for Kevin's favorite dinner and ice cream cake.

Kevin's parents brought him two cakes for his birthday - a mint chocolate chip cake and this cute Hannah Montana cake.

Rebecca got to help him blow out his candles, and as you can see, she was so excited to help out.

I'll Have To Find A New Widget

I went to stepheniemeyer.com today and read this announcement:

Movie News Flash!

So, many of you have heard that the release of the sixth Harry Potter movie, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, has been moved from this Thanksgiving to next summer. First and foremost, please know that this schedule change has absolutely nothing to do with Twilight, me, or Summit Films (so enough with the imdb death wishes, okay?). This is Warner Bros. decision, and it was not motivated by anything Twilight-related.

Now for the good news! Though we're all sad to have to wait for Harry Potter, this open spot at the theater creates a cool opportunity. The good people at Summit were thrilled to let me know that now Twilight fans are going to get their movie three weeks earlier than scheduled. That's right—Twilight will be released in theaters November 21st! Let the merry-making commence!
